IJA and KDF forces launch Security sweep in Dobley

Interim Jubba Administration (IJA) forces backed KDF troops have been conducting massive security sweep in Dobley town and areas around it, for last 24 hours following Al-Shabaab’s ambush on KDF convoy travelling from Dobley on Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Col David Obonyo, said they killed 21 al-Shabaab militants in a clash in Dobley area and recovered 17 AK47 rifles, five rocket propelled grenades and other assorted ammunition.

“We recovered 17 AK 47 rifles, five rocket propelled grenades, two rocket launchers and a number of bullets,” KDF spokesman said.

Commanders in charge of the operation said that the inspection was intended to beef up the security of the town and undisclosed number of people suspected being Al-Shabaab members were apprehended.

The security forces of IJa were seen patrolling every corner of the town.

The operation which was conducted by the security forces has curtailed the movement of people and public vehicles.

KDF went to Somalia in October 2011. Kenya’s incursion into southern Somalia started after the kidnapping of two Spanish women, who were working for MSF at the Dadaab refugee camp.
