IJA security forces raid house used by Al-Shabab members for IED preparation in Badhere
The security forces of Interim Jubba Administration backed by Kenyan troops under AMISOM have conducted security operations in Baardhere town which was recaptured last month.
The soldiers attacked a house in one of the town’s suburbs after tip off from the public.
IJA security commander, Abdullahi Abdi Adan Dalal speaking to Goobjoog News said during the operation the security forces troops raid a residence where they captured military equipment including an assortment of guns including RPG shells, AK47s, a PK barrel and several rounds of ammunition, mobile phones, solar panel, a pile of Somali currency and vehicles.
“The soldiers have foiled attacks and raided Al-Shabab members who were preparing improvised explosive device in a house, the group intended to target the civilians but unfortunately the members vacated the house before our soldiers reached the house. however the forces siezed military equipment ” he said.
meanwhile the commander said that there are four Al-Shabab defectors who surrendered to the government in Bardhere town.
Bardhere town used to be the largest stronghold for Al-Shabab’s top officials and its foreign jihadist fighters before they fled after heavy military assault by the Somali government forces and the African Union mission in Somalia [AMISOM].
AMISOM troops and Somali National Army have imposed dawn to curfew in the town a bid to store the security of the town.
