IJA to expand its administration throughout its region
Interim Regional State of Jubbaland is carrying out initiatives to expand its administration to its regions and districts.
Earlier this week, the president of Interim Jubba Administration, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) replaced the governor of Gedo Mohamed Abdi Kalil with Mr Ahmed.
Madobe sent several high ranks officials of his administration including his vice president to Gedo region in a bid to proceed with the process state building and to hold talks with the traditional elders.
IJA is expected to hold its presidential elections in two days time.
On 15th May 2013 Ahmed Madobe who is the incumbent president was elected as interim Jubbaland president by more than 500 delegates representing clans and sub-clans in the region.
In August same year, the Federal Government of Somali sent a high level delegation headed by ex-minister for Justice Farah Ma’alin to the Ethiopian capital Addis to negotiate a deal with Jubba-land Administration to bring to an end the political circus which had been ongoing for quite a while.
The state declared June this year that it was severing ties with the Federal government of Somalia after lawmakers in Mogadishu passed a vote of no confidence on the Jubbaland State Assembly.
Elsewhere the state is facing opposition from several politicians from Gedo region including Barre Shire (Barre Hiiraale), the fired Gedo governor Mohamed Abdi, former federal Mps and elders from the region.
