Immigration Agency Donates $14,400 for Drought Relief
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency has handed over a $14,400 donation collected by its staff to the Daryeel Bulsho Organization to support drought-affected communities.
The funds are intended to help provide water, food and emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by ongoing drought conditions in parts of the country.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad, chairman of the Somali Scholars’ Council, who attended the ceremony, urged Somalis to support one another during difficult periods such as drought.
Mohamed Ali Siyad, known as Champion, chairman of Daryeel Bulsho, said the immigration agency was the first government institution to respond to the organization’s humanitarian appeal and thanked its staff for their support.
Osman Muxiyadiin Shaatax, chairperson of the Civil Society Organizations Forum, also welcomed the initiative, saying it could encourage other institutions to contribute to drought relief efforts.
Mustafa Dhuxulow, the agency’s director-general, called on Somali youth to continue participating in humanitarian activities and community support, warning that some people are dying due to a lack of water and stressing the need for greater collective action to assist drought-affected communities.
