India promises to donate medical equipment to Somalia
GOOBJOOG NEWS | NEW DELHI : The Federal Government of Somalia Health and Social Welfare Minister Ali Haji Adan has asked medical practitioners to provide efficient services to the Somali citizens and make the services affordable.
The Minister who spoke during a meeting with the Somali Ambassador to India Ahmed Ali Dahir and the Secretary General of West Asia, North & East Africa in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohitin New Delhi, India said Somalia and India have agreed to collaborate in the Medical field to ensure the Somali people receive quality medical services.
Dr. Rajpurohit announced that India will facilitate travel visas for Somali people who need urgent specialized treatment to travel to India and that the Indian government will also donate medicine and medical equipment to Somalia to help the Somali people, particularly those that have been affected by insurgency by the Al-Shabaab militants.
The officials also visited the APPOLA hospital in New Delhi on a benchmarking tour to see ways to improve Somalia’s medical facilities to enable them better the services to the people.
