GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: India is set to open a visa application center in Mogadishu to ease application process for Somali citizens, particularly those traveling to India for medical purposes.

The announcement was made Monday during a meeting between Somalia’s Director-General of the Immigration and Nationality Agency Mustafa Duhulow with diplomats from the Indian Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya.

The initiative aims to streamline the visa issuance process by allowing applicants to access services directly in Mogadishu, eliminating the need to travel to Nairobi or other countries for this purpose.

The move is expected to significantly benefit Somali citizens, many of whom travel to India for medical treatment.

The establishment of the visa office in Mogadishu reflects strengthened diplomatic ties between Somalia and India, while also addressing a pressing need for more accessible consular services in the Somali capital.
