India to Reopen Embassy in Mogadishu, Deepen Bilateral Ties with Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS MOGADISHU: The Indian government has announced plans to reopen its embassy in Mogadishu, a move seen as the Asian country’s move to further deepen bilateral ties with the federal Government of Somalia.

Somalia’s envoy to India Ambassador Ahmed Ali Dahir said a delegation from India had recently visited Mogadishu to asses the security situation and finalize plans for the reopening of the embassy.

“The delegation from India was assessing how to reopen the Indian Embassy in Mogadishu, assessing the security aspect. Between them, the delegation also focused on strengthening the relations between the two countries such as trade, health, education, and government,” Ambassador Ahmed Ali Dahir stated.

He added that the reopening of the embassy will enhance cooperation between the two nations in various sectors including; trade, health, education, and governance, and also signifies India’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s development efforts and fostering stronger diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The move is also expected to contribute to the broader objectives of peace, stability, and prosperity in the Horn of Africa region.
