INEBC Corrects Local Election Schedule, Excludes Goldogob District

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission (INEBC) has issued a revised list of districts slated for upcoming local council elections, correcting a technical error in an earlier publication.

The commission clarified that Goldogob district in Puntland had been mistakenly included in the previous timetable. Goldogob held its local council elections on May 25, 2023, and will not participate in the forthcoming electoral process.

In a statement, INEBC apologized for the oversight and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting elections transparently and in full compliance with Somalia’s electoral laws.

The commission also assured voters, political organizations, and the general public that the electoral process will continue according to established legal procedures and deadlines.
