Information minister: Regional state for Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions will be formed before December
Regional state will be formed for Hiraan and middle Shabelle regions before December this years, the country’s information ministry said.
The conference of soon-to-be-formed state has been postponed several times due several reasons.
Somali minister for information Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareeye said that the state formation process is set to start soon and run through September which will culminate into the election of the state president.
“The state formation process of Hiraan and Middle Shabelle is running smoothly, initially we planned to select delegates in the month November and to proceed the process to nominate the regional MPs but in order to appease all sides, in the consultation you have to include all parties to iron out differences” he said.
He added “ before December these regions should get new regional state according to the government plans”
This comes at time of traditional elders, politicians in Hiraan and Middle Shebelle urged the top leaders of the federal government to speed up the formation of new interim regional administration for the two regions in central Somalia.
