Injured ISIS Fighters Treated in Hargeisa Hospitals, Documents Reveal as Puntland Forces Seize Major Base

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI: Injured ISIS fighters were treated in hospitals in the Somaliland capital, Hargeisa, documents retrieved by Puntland Security Forces in the ISIS headquarters in Bari region have revealed.
Puntland security officials said the forces who raided the ISIS headquarters in Buqa-Aleed caves in the Al-Miskaad mountain ranges of Bari region retrieved a trove of documents. Some of the documents revealed that the group’s fighters who were injured in the ongoing operations were treated in Hargeisa.
The officials, however, did not disclose the identity of the hospitals, noting investigations to establish the group’s links were underway. Other documents included business transactions showing companies that traded with the group and assisted them to import materials from abroad.
Also found were Indian currency notes re-affirming the view that foreign fighters have been part of the ISIS group. Several foreign fighters have been captured alive and others killed in the operations.
A key financier identified as Ahmed Maeleninine was killed in a U.S. airstrike last month.
Puntland President Abdullahi Deni launched the second phase of Operation Lighting last week.
