Iran asks Interpol to arrest Trump over General Soleimani killings
Iran issued arrest warrant and asked Interpol to help president trump’s detention over General Soleimani killings in Baghdad International Airport.
According to Al-Jazira report, Trump and 30 others Iran accuse of involvement in the January 3 attack that killed General Qassem Soleimani, face “murder and terrorism charges”.
General Soleimani assassination came after months of incidents raising tensions between the two countries and ultimately saw Iran retaliate with a ballistic missile strike targeting American troops in Iraq.
Iran has pledged to take stiff action against the US following the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in 2018.
On 27 December 2019, the K-1 Air Base in Iraq, which hosts Iraqi and U.S. personnel, was attacked, killing an American contractor. The U.S. responded by launching airstrikes across Iraq and Syria, killing 25 Kata’ib Hezbollah.
