Iran helps implement package to thwart famine in Somalia: IRCS

Head of Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Amir Mohsen Ziaei made the remarks in the Specialized Meeting to Thwart Hunger at the 32nd International Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva.

Ziaei said that the relief agencies must go ahead with carrying plans for empowerment of the African people to thwart famine in Somalia in particular.
He said that implementation of the program has earlier started based on the above-mentioned MoU.

The Iranian official referred to the worse economic situation in the most of the countries, especially in African states, saying that it is essential to adopt program to empower the poor nations economically.

Elsewhere in his speech, he recalled other projects and programs of IRCS in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, especially in the field of environment protection.

The 32nd International Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was held in Geneva from December 9-10.
