Joint forces capture Kuda Island in Lower Juba region
The forces of interim Juba administration together with African Union peace-keeping troops have captured Kuda Island 170 KM to Kismayo, the headquarters of Lower Juba region.
IJA security officials confirmed that they seized the control of Kuda after brief confrontation with Al-shabab adding that 2 soldiers were killed and another one wounded from their side.
The forces also confirmed that they killed 7 Al-shabab members, seized weapons and military vehicles in the town.
Our correspondent in region reports that the allied forces conducted security operation in the town and the main road linking Kuda to Kulbiyow locality where the group still control.
The forces are planning to advance to remaining areas under the control of Al-shabab particularly Kulbiyow and Badhade localities.
