Jubaland Moves to Consolidate Security Gains, Boost Drought Aid
GOOBJOOG NEWS | KISMAYO: Jubaland’s cabinet agreed on measures to strengthen security operations, scale up drought relief and accelerate a key water project following a special meeting chaired by President Ahmed Mohamed Islam, on Wednesday.
The meeting endorsed continued joint security operations in the Lower Juba region after recent gains against armed groups, with an emphasis on protecting civilians and consolidating stability.
Ministers also approved steps to intensify humanitarian assistance for drought-affected communities and improve coordination with aid agencies, as the region faces prolonged dry conditions.
The cabinet further agreed to fast-track a major water infrastructure project in Kismayo, which officials said would significantly improve access to clean and safe water for residents.
Officials said the decisions are expected to have an immediate impact on security and humanitarian conditions, while laying groundwork for longer-term stability and service delivery in Jubaland.
