Jubaland elects 5 MPs in Kismayo today
GOOBJOOG NEWS/KISMAYO: The Jubaland state elections committee has today held elections for five seats in Kismayo, the capital of Jubaland.
The first seat in Hop # 072 was contested by Abdirashid Mohamed Hidig retained his seat, HOP#072 after hw received 75 votes while his rival, Abdisamad Mohamed Abdullahi garnered 18 votes, losing two.
The second seat, HOP#130, previously held by Mohamed Diriye Khalif was won by Mowlid Abdi Mohamud. Mohamud trounced his rival, Hassan Tifow.
Mohamud Muhumed Omar (Kulow) clinched seat HOP#079 after he was voted in by 74 delegates defeating his challenger, Bashir Nur Dhumal who received 21 votes and lost two votes.
The fourth seat, HOP#112, previously held by Abdi Aziz Abdullahi Mohamed Hukun, was today won by MP Abdikadir Mohamed Waceys. Waceys defeated his rival, Daud Osman Ali.
Omar Yusuf Qalaadiid won the fifth and last seat, HOP#136 which was previously held by Mohamed Abdi Gandi (deceased). Omar received 82 votes, while his rival,Abdifatah Omar Maalim received 17 votes.
