Jubaland forces launch assault on Al-Shabaab base in Lower Juba

GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Jubaland’s Darawish forces backed by DANAB forces launched an assault Monday night on Al-Shabaab militants in the southern part of Kismayo, Lower Juba region.

Heavy fighting took place after the troops raided an Al-Shabaab base in Halima Adeey area near Bu’a Haji in southwestern Kismayo, resulting in a number of casualties although the exact number of casualties is not yet known. 

Military officials from the Jubaland administration said the operation to weed out the group which has set up a strong base in the southern part of Kismayo was a huge step towards eliminating the terror network that has caused instability in the area for a long period of time.
