Jubaland State of Somalia Monthly Security Council Meeting in kismayo
Jubaland State of Somalia holds a monthly Security Council meeting along with AMISOM Sectors and other important partners.
The objectives of this meeting were the war on terrorism, advancing security, and the collaborative partnership of the key stakeholders working towards the elimination of terrorism, liberation of districts held by Al-Shabab, the continuous review and evaluation of enemy forces and the existing security obstacles.
Upon further analysis and intelligence sharing, it has come to attention that one of the key security obstacles continues to result from the following actions of the Somali National Army’s (SNA) Command;
- The elimination of the communication structures and chain of command between the 43rd Division and the SNA Command
- The appointment of a Unit Commander in the El-Wak area, a place where there’s been no military base and without any prior knowledge or consultation with the SNA’s 43rd Division based in Jubaland.
- The delivery of military equipment and logistics to El-Wak district by Federal Members of Parliament and Senate. It’s been brought to our attention that significant of portion of the delivered military equipment and logistics ended up in the hands of Al-Shabab because of the fact that there was no SNA force to defend it.
- The SNA Command has further created chaos and incoherence in the Sanguni front facing the liberation of the Middle Juba region. Failure to maintain an effective chain of command and the continuation of contradictory orders have resulted in a significant disadvantage to the SNA forces and the enemy gaining a recent opportunity to not only defeat the SNA forces but to capture significant equipment.
- The SNA Command has also sewn an environment of discord that is highly likely to result in armed conflict, between communities, reviving civil-war rivalries and diverting our collective attention to degrade and destroy Al-Shabab
- The actions of the SNA Command have idled, limited and politicized the force logistics during a period in which we are engaged in 33 combat zones with the enemy
- Significant worries are here forth expressed by the Jubaland Security Council regarding the recent proposal of the African Union’s Peace & Security Commission to abolish or remove sector 6 which is needed more today than the day it was first put together.
Finally, the President of Jubaland State of Somalia is immensely thankful for the countries continuing to offer their forces and support to Somalia in our efforts to fight extremist forces in the country.
