Jubaland VP chairs security meeting amid ongoing military offensives
GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Jubaland Vice President Mohamud Sayid Adan today chaired the monthly security meeting to assess the security situation and the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab in the southern state.
The meeting brought together cabinet ministers, security chiefs and commanders from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
State security chiefs and ATMIS commanders briefed the meeting on the ongoing operations and overall security in Jubaland. The meeting follows a deadly attack in Bardheere, Gedo region which affected security and government officials.
Jubaland opened its battlefront against Al-Shabaab in February following significant gains by the Somali National Army and clan militias in central Somalia.
