Jubbaland forces and Alshabaab fight on the outskirts of Kismayo

Forces of Jubbaland administration clashed with Alshabaab on the outskirts of Kismayo town on Friday evening.

The clashes affected Birta dheer, Janaay Abdalla and Abdalla Biyoole which are all bases of Al Shabaab. The clashes erupted after Jubbaland forces attacked those areas. Officials within the leadership of Jubbaland told the media that at least four combatants from both warring sides lost their lives in those clashes.

Jubaland troops alongside Kenyan-AMISOM forces have pressed ahead with surge on militant hideouts, making advances on the frontline.

Kenyan Defence Force (KDF) crossed the border into Somalia in late 2011 and after vehement clashes with Al-Shabaab fighters took control of strategic Kismayo seaport.
