Jubbaland journalists’ Union Elects New Leadership

Journalists in Jubbaland State have elected a new leadership on Saturday.

Two candidates who have shown interest to the post chairman of Jubbaland journalists union contested the election which took place in Kismayo town.

In the first round of voting among, two candidates were Kadar Mohamud Hareed and Mohamed Kassim Wahar and no one got the require votes therefore they moved the participation of the second round of voting.

In the second round Wahar pulled out of the race thus the committee declared Hareed to be the winner.

Mr. Hareed is a prominent journalist and has been chairman of the Union for past one year.

He called upon Somali Journalists to put their differences aside and work with the new officials.

He has pledged to embark on the development of the union and close working relations with the union members.
