Justice and Solidarity Party Endorses Libaan Ahmed Hassan for Galmudug Presidency

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Executive Committee of Somalia’s Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) on Saturday officially endorsed Libaan Ahmed Hassan as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2026–2031 leadership of Galmudug State.
The decision was reached during an Executive Committee meeting held at the party’s headquarters and chaired by the party’s Secretary-General, Hussein Sheikh Mohamud. The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Galmudug presidential election and the party’s strategy for participating in the electoral process.
Following deliberations, the committee overwhelmingly approved Libaan Ahmed Hassan as the JSP’s official flag bearer, saying the nomination reflects the party’s confidence in his leadership and ability to lead Galmudug.
The party said it will intensify its campaign activities and election preparations in the coming days as it seeks to secure victory in the regional presidential election.
The endorsement comes a day after incumbent Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye, widely known as Qoorqoor, announced on Friday that he was withdrawing from the presidential race. Qoorqoor said his decision was guided by the interests of stability and the public good, adding that he would support whoever is elected to lead the state.
