Justice and Solidarity Party Wins Majority in Banadir District Polls

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has released the final results of district council elections held across the Banadir region, showing a clear lead by the Justice and Solidarity party among 20 competing political organisations.

According to the commission, 233,314 votes were cast in the polls conducted in 16 districts, with 210,586 ballots deemed valid and 22,728 rejected. A total of 390 council seats were contested.

The Justice and Solidarity (Caddaaladda iyo Wadajirka) party secured the largest share, winning 97,549 votes, or 46.3%, translating into 177 seats, nearly half of all available positions.

Towfiiq finished second with 28,623 votes (13.6%) and 49 seats, followed by Ramaas, which gained 20,463 votes (9.7%) and 42 seats.
Karaama received 19,877 votes (9.4%), securing 39 seats, while Sincad won 9,078 votes (4.3%) and 26 seats.

Smaller parties also made gains. Madalsan won 13 seats, Saab secured 12, Horumar iyo Midnimo Qaran gained 10, and Muwaddaniinta Soomaaliyeed took nine seats. Dowlad Wanaagga Soomaaliyeed and Dadka Soomaaliyeed each won two seats, while several parties gained a single seat each.

Several political organisations, including Soomaalinimo, Midnimada Shacabka, and Socod, failed to win any seats.

NIEBC said the results represent the outcome of a competitive multi-party contest and reflect voter choices across the Banadir region.
