Justice Minister Vows Swift Completion of Landmark Constitution
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hassan Moallim Mohamud, has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to fast-tracking the country’s constitutional review, describing it as vital for Somalia’s political stability and national unity.
Speaking after a meeting with ministers of constitutional affairs from the federal member states in Mogadishu, Hassan Moallim said the government is expediting technical work on the remaining chapters to submit them to Parliament “without delay.”
He noted that significant progress had already been achieved, including the completion and submission of reports covering Chapters 5 to 9 of the draft Constitution, following Parliament’s earlier approval of Chapters 1 to 4.
The minister said finalizing the Constitution will lay the foundation for stronger governance, clarity in power-sharing, and lasting national cohesion. Regional ministers attending the meeting pledged continued cooperation to ensure the process reaches completion.
