A security swoop at Dadaab refugee camp, in North-Eastern Kenya has netted twelve terror suspects, according to the country’s police Inspector General Joseph Boinett.
The security operation comes barely a fortnight after a terror attack in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital that killed 21 people. The Somalia based Al-Shabaab terror group claimed responsibility.
“One of the twelve suspects arrested at Dadaab refugee camp in a swoop conducted by police was found with two New Zealand passports in different names,” said Boinett who spoke to journalists but did not reveal their identities.
Boinett also did not link the suspects to the recent attack at 14 Riverside complex in the country’s capital but said that they were being investigated for terror links.
Since the attack took place, Kenyan police have said that they have arrested 17 suspects whom have been arraigned in court.
The Kenyan government gave police up to February to complete investigations against the suspects and also apprehend more with terror links.
