Kenya Seizes Suspected Militant Uniform Shipment in Nairobi Security Operation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Kenyan security agencies have disrupted a suspected logistics network linked to Al-Shabaab after seizing a large consignment of camouflage uniforms in Nairobi.
The operation in the Eastleigh area was led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit following intelligence that the shipment may be connected to wider regional supply routes.
The criminal investigation agency in a statement said multiple bales of uniforms and T-shirts were recovered from parcel depots after the cargo, which had reportedly arrived through Mombasa, was traced to storage facilities in Nairobi.
It added that preliminary findings suggest the goods, believed to have originated from China, were imported as consolidated cargo before being moved through a network of logistics intermediaries.
The agency further stated that several suspects, including individuals linked to cargo handling and distribution, are in custody and being questioned as part of efforts to dismantle the wider supply chain.
The operation comes amid intensified regional counterterrorism efforts targeting suspected support networks for Al-Shabaab across Kenya and the Horn of Africa, with security agencies continuing investigations into possible cross-border links.
