GOOBJOOG NEWS | KHARTOUM: Kenya and Uganda have joined nations evacuating their citizens from Sudan to escape the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Army and a paramilitary group enters its second week.

On Monday, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Alfred Mutua said the government expects to evacuate over 400 citizens from Sudan via land and air.

“I wish to thank South Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia for granting permission for Kenyan planes meant to evacuate stranded Kenyans in Sudan, to overfly their airspaces,” Dr Mutua said.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Khartoum Rashid Ssemuddu said his country had hired six buses to ferry its citizens across the Ethiopian border from where they will be flown to Entebe.

Uganda is evacuating its 300 nationals, including diplomats, business people, students and Hajj pilgrims that were en route to Saudi Arabia when the violence broke out last week.
