Kenyan Police Kill Four al Shabaab Militants in Garissa Counter-Terror Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GARISSA: Kenyan security forces killed four suspected al Shabaab militants in a coordinated counter-terror operation in Garissa County, authorities said on Tuesday.
The raid, carried out on Monday by the National Police Service’s elite Special Operations Group (SOG), targeted known militant hideouts in the Najo and Guracho areas near the Kenya–Somalia border. The operation was based on actionable intelligence, police said.
A fierce gunfight broke out as officers stormed the compounds, ending with four militants fatally shot and the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, a PKM machine gun, ammunition, communication devices, and other combat supplies.
Security officials described the operation as a “major tactical success” in Kenya’s ongoing campaign to dismantle al Shabaab cells operating along its eastern frontier.
“This operation demonstrates our unwavering resolve to eliminate threats to national security,” the National Police Service said in a statement. “We continue to work closely with other security agencies and local communities to safeguard all Kenyans and visitors.”
Al Shabaab, a Somalia-based militant group linked to al Qaeda, has carried out numerous cross-border attacks in Kenya in recent years, particularly in northeastern regions.
Kenya has stepped up surveillance and joint operations across its border counties to prevent infiltration and neutralize emerging threats.
