Kenyan soldiers killed in IED attack in Dhobley
Seven Kenyan soldiers were killed Sunday after their convoy ran into an improvised explosive device suspected to have planted on the road in the Somali town of Dobley.
A military official quoted by VOA said the soldiers died during the attack while two others were severely injured in the Sunday evening attack.
Sources said the convoy was heading to a military base in Dhoblye in Lower Jubba region. The militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
Several Kenyan troops were killed in 2016 when Al-Shabaab attacked the forces in Kulbiyo base a year after a similar attack in El-Adde killed about 100 soldiers.
There was no immediate from Amisom or the Kenya Defense Forces regarding the incident.
