Kenyan warplanes kill five civilians near Somali-Kenya border
At least five Somali civilians have been killed and several of others injured in airstrikes carried out by Kenya warplanes on Dhamasa town of South-western Somalia.
The airborne attacks took place in the town located near Somali-Kenya border.
‘’Kenyan warplane have pounded the town indiscriminately where civilians are living. five people have lost their lives so far and several others seriously injured,’’ said resident who lives in Dhamasa town.
In the past, Kenyan warplanes killed dozens of civilians in Southern Somalia in airborne attacks aimed at the al-Qaeda-linked extremists.
Kenya sent forces into Somalia in 2011 to fight the al-Qaida-inspired Islamist group, which has carried out a series of bombings and kidnappings in the region.
Kenya has 3,664 soldiers operating under the framework of AMISOM, who are in Lower and Middle Juba and Gedo regions.
