Khadija Diriye to run for Deputy Speaker of the House of the People

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Humanitarian Minister Khadija Mohamed Diriye has officially announced that she will be running for the post of First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

Khadija Mohamed Diriye announced her candidacy in a statement posted on her Facebook page, saying that following recommendations from her political friends, she will  be seeking to contest for the position of vice president of the 11th parliament.

The Humanitarian Minister, who was re-elected as a member of the federal parliament in January becoming one of the longest sitting lawmakers in Somalia, is aiming for the seat believed to be eyed also by Fahad Yasin who has not yet been approved as MP.

Meanwhile, MPs Mohamud Abdulkadir Jeeg and Mohamed Ali Omar (Aana-Nug) have also announced their candidature for the post of first deputy speaker of parliament.
