KSrelief Launches Zakat al-Fitr Aid Project to Support 80,000 in Somalia
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in partnership with the Al-Mahasin Foundation for Development and Education, has launched a nationwide Zakat al-Fitr assistance project aimed at supporting vulnerable communities across Somalia.
The initiative will see the distribution of 10,000 bags of rice, each weighing 20 kilograms, benefiting an estimated 80,000 people, particularly poor and displaced families living in camps.
Priority will be given to the most vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons, orphans, widows, and low-income households in Banadir region and South West State.
The project comes at a critical time as many Somali communities continue to face drought, displacement, and worsening food insecurity.
The assistance is expected to help meet basic food needs while restoring a sense of dignity for families during Eid al-Fitr.
The Al-Mahasin Foundation noted that the distribution will be conducted in coordination with local authorities and community committees to ensure aid reaches eligible beneficiaries efficiently and transparently.
The initiative underscores KSrelief’s ongoing humanitarian role in Somalia, aimed at alleviating hardship and reinforcing solidarity with vulnerable populations during the holy month of Ramadan.
