Larry Andre, the new US Ambassador to Somalia prepares to take over Mogadishu embassy
Goobjoog News/Washington DC: The new US Ambassador to Somalia, Larry Andre, visited the Somali Embassy in Washington, DC, in preparation for a take over as the incoming US ambassador to Somalia.
Ready to receive the ambassador in his office was Somalia’s Deputy Ambassador to the United States, Jafar Jama where the two discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation
A statement posted on the embassy’s Twitter account read: “Jafar Jama, speaking on behalf of the embassy, received in his office Ambassador Larry Andre, who was warmly welcomed, to discuss issues of mutual interest and cooperation. We wish Ambassador Andre well in his work and in strengthening the relationship.”
Larry, 60, was appointed to the position by the Biden administration on April 15, 2021 after the US Senate voted in favor of the new ambassador, following his nomination by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The new ambassador will take over from Colleen Crenwelge who is in acting capacity after the removal of Donald Yamamoto by President Biden.
