Leaders Pay Tribute to Fallen Soldiers During Ramadan Prayers
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Senior officials from Somalia’s federal government gathered at a ceremony commemorating soldiers who lost their lives in recent operations, while also recognizing battlefield gains made by the Somali National Armed Forces during the holy month of Ramadan.
Among those present were Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi; Education, Culture and Higher Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir; Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Farah; Ports and Marine Transport Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur; and State Minister for Internal Security Mohamed Ali Haga.
The event also drew participation from the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, alongside senior army officers and representatives of international partners supporting Somalia’s counterterrorism efforts.
Prayers were offered in honor of soldiers who died in the line of duty, remembered for their role in defending the country and its people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Fiqi commended the armed forces for their resilience and sacrifices, noting that recent operations had resulted in the liberation of new areas and strengthened national security.
He added that these gains have helped create a more secure environment, allowing citizens to observe Ramadan and carry out religious activities without fear.
Fiqi further emphasized that the sacrifices of fallen soldiers would not be forgotten, reaffirming the government’s commitment to continue military operations until all areas of the country are brought under full control.
