Lightning strike kills mother, injures her two children in Somaliland 

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: A family in Oodweyne in the Somaliland region is grieving after three of their family members were struck by lightning some few hours ago following rain that had fallen in the area.

The lightning is said to have struck the house of the family of seven, killing the mother of the household and injuring two of her children.

Confirming the incident, the General Director of Oodweyne City Hospital, Dr. Mustafa Mohamed Bihi, said that the lightning strike left the woman dead and injured two of her children, one of whom was seriously injured.

He added that the two were currently receiving life-saving treatment, promising that the medical team was doing their best to ensure that they received the best medical care.

This latest incident comes a few months after three people, two of them brothers, were killed in a lightning strike in two areas of Las-Geel district in the Maroodijeh region of Somaliland following heavy rains that had pounded the area.
