Lower House suffers quorum hitch as 155 MPs fail to turn up
Majority of MPs kept off parliament today forcing the speaker to adjourn the session as the House could not attain the quorum threshold.
Out of 275 members of parliament, only 120 of them turned up for today’s sitting running short of 19 MPs to gain the 139 mark set for the House to conduct business.
Speaker Mohamed Mursal said 16 MPs were absent with apologies while the rest did not state reasons for their absence.
The lawmakers just resumed business two weeks ago after a long recess. The MPs were to debate the review of the House Standing Orders today.
