Lower House to vote on 2021 budget today
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Lower House whose term officially lapsed two days ago is today expected to vote on the 2021 budget which was approved by the cabinet last month.
According to the Provisional Constitution, the term of the current parliament was set to expire on Sunday. House speaker Mohamed Mursal however said early this month the House will proceed with business until a new parliament is sworn in.
Cabinet approved a $671.8 million budget in late November for the financial year 2021. This was an increase of about $200 million from the 2020 budget which stood at $460 million.
Today’s session will also debate the Somali Investment Agency Bill and the Notaries Public Bill.
