Lower Shabelle administration mobilises water supply to villages

The administration of Lower Shabelle region has started trucking water to several villages alongside River Shabelle a month after the river dried up.
Deputy Governor, Omar Arabey who spoke to Goobjoog News said the target areas are Balbalay Owgooyo, Dajalaq, lambaluul and Adaliyow villages.
“We started delivering water to 14 villages alongside the river and we shall continue till the water of the follows back” said.
Farmers of Hiiraan, Middle and Lower Shabelle regions say the recent dryness of the river had caused a lot of damage to crops.
An acute shortage of water has hit various parts of Somalia following a long dry spell.
In areas around River Shabelle, which routinely experience flooding, animal deaths have also been reported.
