GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, has officially invited members of both houses of Somalia’s Federal Parliament representing Jubaland to attend a consultative meeting in Kismayo.

In a formal letter addressed to the lawmakers, the president called on them to participate in discussions scheduled to take place in Kismayo on March 2, 2026. The invitation was issued by the Office of the President and outlines plans for a high-level consultation focused on key political matters.

According to the letter, the meeting is intended to provide a platform for dialogue and coordination between Jubaland’s leadership and its representatives in the Federal Parliament. The consultations are expected to address broader national political developments and issues affecting the federal member state.

The gathering comes amid a collapse of talks last week between the opposition under the Somali Future Council and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The opposition accused the federal government of unilateral constitutional changes while the government on its part said the opposition had acted in bad faith by introducing new demands.
