GOOBJOOG NEWS|GEDO: Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe has sacked Gedo governor Ahmed Bule Garad following a vicious fall-out after Madobe was re-elected president last month.

Madobe announced the appointment of Mohamed Hussein Alqaadi as the governor of the restive Gedo region amid ongoing feuds with the Federal Governor.

Osman Haji Moalim has also been appointed the deputy governor in charge of security and political affairs.

Garad had sided with the Federal Government in rejecting Madobe’s controversial re-election last month and vowed not to work with him.

The Federal Government has since instituted legal proceedings against Madobe and called for his arrest. Madobe was first formally elected President of Jubaland in 2015, following the formation of the interim state. He was subsequently re-elected in 2019, but in a similar vein, the then federal administration rejected his return to office.
