Mahdi faction re-elects Hariri as Hashi side keeps off Afsiyoni
GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: The ongoing row between Senate speaker Abdi Hashi and his political arch rival Mahdi Guled further escalated Saturday following the reelection of Khadar Hariri in an election sanctioned by the Prime Minister Mohamed Roble.
The Hashi faction kept off the meeting at Afisyoni which was meant to elect a joint leadership. The four member team allied to Hashi announced Friday evening they would not be attending the Afisyoni meeting convened by the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET).
Hariri, senior official at the National Refugee Agency had been elected chair of Somaliland SIET by the Mahdi group.
A leadership elected separately by Hashi and Mahdi factions was dissolved by Roble early this week sparking another fall out and sharp criticism from the Hashi side.
Hashi political advisor Professor Abdi Samatar told Goobjoog News his side will not recognise Senators elected through the Mahdi allied leadership.
Goobjoog News has also learnt that Roble may be locking out any debates over the Somaliland question in what could herald further wrangles especially with the election of MPs.
