Many children hospitalized in Afgoye after measles outbreak
The administration of Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle region reports severe outbreak in the district and nearby areas.
The health officials in the district state that at least ten people mostly children suffering from measles are daily hospitalized.
The outbreak of measles in Afgoye district and surrounding areas comes a time when hundreds of families affected by the floods of river Shabelle are desperate for immediate help.
Many people in the region express concern that numerous children suffering from measles and other diseases might not have access to the health centers as most rods were cut.
The risk of other waterborne diseases spreading to the area is high.
