GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The National Military Court executed two Al-Shabaab operatives early Thursday after they were found guilty of assassination.

Abdulle Ahmed Mudey, 24, and Omar Adan Mohamed, 29, were convicted of assassinating two security officers in 2019 in the capital, Mogadishu.

The killing of the two comes a day after another Al-Shabaab member, Abdullahi Ali, was executed in southern Galkayo by a firing squad after a military court sentenced him to death for the killing of 15 people, including prominent cleric Sheikh Abdiweli Elmi Yare, in the central town of Somalia in 2018.

The number of militants executed by the military court in the past two weeks alone has shot up to 10, as the government is hell-bent on paying Al-Shabaab militants in their own currency of violence.
