Military Kills Two Al-Shabaab Commanders, Seizes Weapons in Major Offensive Near Basra

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER SHABELLE: Somali Armed Forces have launched a large-scale operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Basra area, situated along the border between the Middle Shabelle and Lower Shabelle regions.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence,government troops killed several Al-Shabaab fighters, including two senior commanders, and captured weapons from the militant group.

The military operation remains active, with Somali forces in pursuit of fleeing Al-Shabaab militants as they work to clear the Basra area and restore security and stability for local residents. .

The Ministry of Defense praised the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of the Somali Armed Forces in their efforts to secure the nation. The ministry reaffirmed that operations to eliminate Al-Shabaab and liberate occupied territories will continue until the Somali people are fully freed from the threat of terrorist organizations.
