Military prosecutor coached and recorded video at NISA terminating Ikran case-family

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The military prosecutor who terminated the case into the alleged death of former spy agent Ikran Tahlil Farah was coached at the intelligence headquarters and recorded a statement clearing the agency of involvement in the disappearance and subsequent reported death of the agent, the family of the agent has said.

The Farah family said in a statement they had received information that Buuley Kamey, the military prosecutor’s dismissal of the case was illegal and meant to cushion senior NISA officials of involvement in Ikran’s death.

“We received information that the prosecutor Buuley Kamey was taken to the NISA headquarters by a car belonging to Yasin Farey and a video clip was recorded at the centre on November 21 which was later aired by the state-owned media and the aim for releasing the video was to pave the way for the clearance of Yasin Farey for the parliamentary seat in Dhusamareb and subsequently a day later he travelled to Dhusamareb,” the statement read in part.

In the video, Kamey announced that investigations had cleared NISA and its officials in the incident that rocked the federal government driving a wedge between Prime Minister Mohamed Roble and outgoing President Mohamed Roble. Though the two struck a deal to end the feud in October, differences, exacerbated by the ongoing elections run deep.

KEY SUSPECTS

Further, the family said, ‘The prosecutors informed the family and their lawyers that it would no possible to investigate some officials of NISA had blocked the process.”

The family had named then NISA boss Fahad Yasin (now Villa Somalia chief of staff), current acting NISA chief and recently controversially elected MP Yasin Farey, Abdullahi Kulane aka Kulane Jiis and Abdiqani Dhirane aka Wadne Qabad as behind the disappearance and death of their daughter.

The family said they will not relent until justice is delivered for their daughter who was declared dead by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) after missing for about two months.

Ikran Tahlil Farah reportedly boarded a car outside her home on the evening of June 26. On September 2, NISA said the female spy agent was kidnapped and killed by the militant group Al-Shabaab. The group immediately refuted the claims noting it was ‘shocked’ by the accusations.
