Military Supreme Court Hands 15-Year Terms In Balad Xaawo Terrorism Case
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Supreme Court of the Armed Forces has sentenced two men to 15 years in prison each for terrorism-related crimes linked to killings and bombings in Balad Xaawo, Gedo region, in 2025.
The ruling followed an appeal by the Military Prosecutor’s Office against a lower court decision issued on Dec. 4, 2025.
In that judgment, Mohamed Aadan Abukar, also known as Heyder Muqtaar Afgarasho, had been sentenced to 15 years, while Mohamed Qadar Ali Aadan received a 10-year term.
After reviewing the case and hearing arguments from both sides on Feb. 4, the Supreme Court revised the sentence, ordering that both defendants serve 15 years in prison.
Brigadier General Liibaan Cali Yaroow, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Armed Forces, announced the final decision, which concludes the military court proceedings in the case.
