GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has underscored the importance of sustained international cooperation in strengthening Somalia’s governance, accountability, and institutional performance within the security and justice sectors.

Speaking at the launch of the second phase of the EU-funded Security and Justice, Governance and Accountability Project (SJGAP) in Mogadishu, Fiqi said the initiative is central to completing ongoing reforms and operationalising systems that enhance transparency and public trust.

He described SJGAP as a “model of effective partnership” between Somalia and the European Union, noting that continued collaboration has been instrumental in building capable and accountable state institutions.

The project supports Somalia’s Defence, Internal Security, and Justice ministries in consolidating governance reforms and improving coordination across the country’s security and justice frameworks, a move Fiqi said will directly contribute to national stability and citizen confidence in public institutions.
