Mogadishu Governor Launches Reconstruction of Historic Bartamaha School
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Banadir Regional Governor and Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab) has launched the reconstruction of Bartamaha School, a historic educational institution in the Somali capital, in an effort to restore its ageing facilities and improve learning conditions.
Muungaab laid the foundation stone for the project on Wednesday, marking the start of rehabilitation work at the school, which dates back to the colonial era before Somalia gained independence in 1960.
Bartamaha is among the educational institutions associated with generations of Somali students who went on to pursue careers in professional and public life. Its reconstruction comes as authorities seek to address the deterioration of its buildings, which has raised concerns about the safety of students and teachers.
Speaking at the launch, Muungaab said the project was part of the Banadir administration’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and provide a safer learning environment for students and teachers.
The rehabilitation is intended to restore the school’s facilities and support its continued role in educating future generations in Mogadishu.
The ceremony was attended by Abdirahman Ali Mohamed, director-general of the Banadir Regional Education Directorate, and the commissioner of Shangani district.
