GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A two-day retreat has opened in Mogadishu, bringing together Somalia’s parliamentary leaders and constitutional review bodies to accelerate completion of the country’s Provisional Constitution.

The meeting includes the Speakers and Deputy Speakers of both Houses, the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission (ICRIC), and the Constitutional Oversight and Implementation Committee (COIC).

Officials said discussions will focus on finalizing the remaining chapters of the Provisional Constitution, which are expected to be submitted soon to lawmakers for debate.

The ICRIC said it concluded its review after months of consultations with federal and state stakeholders, describing the effort as a critical step toward establishing a permanent constitution.

The move is seen as vital to stabilizing Somalia’s federal system and strengthening its fragile political institutions.
