Mogadishu imposes $5 fine for no masks

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Those who do not wear face masks will now be slapped a $5 fine, Mogadishu city administration has said amid a consistent surge in COVID19 cases in the country.

Banaadir Regional Administration which encompasses the capital Mogadishu announced Thursday compulsory wearing of face masks.
Mogadishu has been most hit by COVID19 so far recording 4504 cases against a national tally of 8713 cases.
The Ministry of Health announced 136 more cases on Wednesday out of a sample size of 978. Somalia has maintained an average 12 per cent positivity rate within the last one month since the second wave of the virus made landfall.
So far, 327 has since died of COVID19.
