Mogadishu Launches Major Road Project to Boost City Connectivity

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Mogadishu Mayor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein “Muungaab” has launched the construction of seven new interlock roads in the Suuqa Hoolaha area of Heliwaa District, marking a major step in the capital’s infrastructure upgrade.
The project aims to ease congestion and improve mobility in one of the city’s busiest commercial zones. The roads, built with durable interlock paving, are part of a broader plan to modernize the capital’s transport network and promote economic growth.
“This isn’t just about roads; it’s about building a better future for our people,” Hussein said during the groundbreaking ceremony. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
The new infrastructure is expected to improve access for residents and businesses, enhance safety, and stimulate local commerce. The mayor also praised community cooperation, calling it key to Mogadishu’s ongoing transformation.
The project highlights Mogadishu’s resilience and forward-looking approach as the city continues to rebuild after years of conflict.
